Community Services
Community services is at the heart of what we do. Thanks to our extensive list of community resources and our experience with social support services, we offer referral services to residents in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, Ottawa, and its surrounding communities. We also provide parenting education and support programs with the goal of strengthening parenting skills and promote child development, reduce stress, foster learning, children’s self image and physical activity as well as prevents future substance abuse and other behavior problems. We have therefore designed targeted training, mentoring and leadership programs with the goal of building resilience while establishing a foundation for success that persist through adolescent to adulthood.
SENIORS CIRCLE
Social isolation is prevalent among seniors in our community. We recognize the fact that aging comes with multiple shortcomings including health issues and mobility challenges, feelings of loneliness, loss of daily social interactions, limited access to transportation and technological barriers. To limit the potential impact social isolation may have on the physical and mental wellbeing of seniors, CommeHome organizes activities for seniors (Seniors’ Circle) between June and October, every year.
Our programming for seniors is designed to provide opportunities for social engagement, physical activity, lifelong learning, and support services. Some of our activities for seniors include:
- Social engagement activities such as games, arts and crafts, and group outings.
- Health and wellness activities to help seniors stay active and maintain independence. These activities include group walk, cooking classes, education on healthy eating habits, encouraging regular health check-ups.
- Support services including Offering assistance with daily activities such as cooking, cleaning, and personal care. As well as counselling and support group sessions.
- Intergenerational Programs to foster connections between seniors and younger generations and to promote mutual understanding and respect.

Youth programs
Youths represent the future, and they remain the centre of our activities. At CommeHome Social Services we recognize the challenges faced by black and other invisible minority youths as well as the immense potential that can be harnessed during the youthful developmental stages of life. We have therefore designed targeted training, mentoring and leadership programs with the goal of building resilience while establishing a foundation for success that will persist throughout adulthood. This include developing critical thinking skills, good character traits, entrepreneurial mindset, basic IT skills and exposure to high impact discipline to guide youth’s career path development. Other topics covered in our Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) include:
- Youths’ leadership
- Dealing with stress and anxiety
